USLDA Tournament Rules

Select an obstruction-free, flat, grassy area for play

Place the target rings approximately 35 feet apart.

Players decide who goes first.

Players BOTH stand behind one of the target rings and, aiming carefully, throw the dart UNDERHAND towards the other target ring. Yard Darts are designed to remain upright in turf when thrown underhand.

Players alternate throws. Scores are additive. The first player to score 21 points or more wins the game.

Games are self-scored. The tournament championship is best of three matches.

*Spectators and waiting players should be kept a safe distance from the active playing area, please respect the caution tape.

**Do not use darts for any purpose other than the game described. Serious or fatal injury could result from improper use.  Keep out of reach of children

***YARD DARTS IS AN ADULT GAME OF SKILL NOT RECOMMENDED FOR CHILDREN

 SCORING

A dart inside the ring is a “ringer” and scores 3 points, all ringers score. (Ex. if both players get both darts in the ring, each player scores six points).

If only one dart is in the ring and the next closest dart is of a different color, the player that scored the ringer scores three points.

If only one dart is in the ring and the next closest dart is of the same color, that player scores four points.

If the same color darts are both closest (but no dart is in the ring), that player scores two points.

If no darts are in the ring, the closest dart scores one point.

If you are unsure of your scoring you can either decide among yourselves what seems fair or ask for an official ruling.
